mShell apps runs on Symbian^3
airbit released the first standalone app for Symbian^3, entirely developed with mShell.
Nokia is recently delivering its aegerly-awaited new flag ship device, the N8. The touch screen phone runs under the new Symbian^3 operating system platform.
Due to many differences to its predecessor (Symbian S60 5th Ed), many apps has to be adapted, if not partially rewritten, to be compatible with Symbian^3. Not so with mShell apps: It has been turned out, that standalone apps developed in m runs on Symbian^3 flawless.
Although this is again a proof for the quality of the m runtime system (mEnvironment), the phone based IDE (mShell) has its issues when running under Symbian^3, mainly due to the new user interface paradigm. Therefore, airbit has scheduled the release of a fully compatible Symbian^3 mShell version for Q1 2011 latest.
The fractal app, fully compatible with all Symbian S50 5th Ed and Symbian^3 devices can be downloaded here or on Nokias Ovi Store.
